During the COVID-19 outbreak, the Governor used extraordinary executive authority to close down businesses, divide Texans into “essential” and “non-essential” categories, and prevent Texans from attending religious services, all in the name of “following orders” from the federal government. It is now an undeniable fact that the Governor violated the rights of the people of Texas and made draconian public policy decisions based on faulty information and the current Lieutenant Governor followed blindly and silently.

This is a disgrace and a shameful blight on the freedom and independence of Texas.

As Lieutenant Governor I will:

Pass a constitutional amendment allowing the Texas Senate and House to initiate a special session at the request of a majority of members of both bodies in order to put a check on the Office of the Governor when the Legislature is not in session.

As Lieutenant Governor I will:

Pass a constutional amendment and supporting legislation that would allow the citizens to initiate a recall of the Governor or any other elected official.
